How to get there: Highway A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia exit at Arenzano.
Arenzano is a picturesque sea resort of the Riviera di Ponente. It is located in an inlet limited by S. Martino and it has a fantastic promenade decorated with pine, palm, and tamarisk trees.
The residential area having Medieval origins was built transversely to the beach around two settlements.
Arenzano was protected by a castle built along the shore (today Piazza Castello), but now it is no longer possible to recognize the structure in its most important elements.
The narrow alleys of Arenzano are very interesting to walk through because they reveal its Medieval past, such as: Via Ghiglini and Via Captian Romeo that lead you to the parish church of S.S. Nazario and Celso, which was rebuilt after WWII in Baroque style.
Within the church you can admire the “Madonna porgente bambino a S. Felice da Cantalice,” by Orazio De Ferrari.
Of great beauty and size is the Parco Comunale Negrotto Cambiaso where Villa Pallavicini is located.
The villa was built in the 16th century, it was then restored and it has now become the home of city hall. In fact this proves the stately renewal of Arenzano during the first modern era.
