The distribution of the urban settlements that make up the community of Serra Riccò, reflects the original state of its road infrastructures from the crest of St. Cipriano to the valley floor.
It is a town-layout, but it also has many rural components that are still active and in the valley floor at the beginning of the second postwar period it has constantly grown.
This development occurred thanks to the important industrial settlements along the Secca up to Pedemont where the office of the local government is located.
Agricultural and industries are the two most important productive elements and they have influenced the population growth of the territory, which is in constant development since the last century.
The road system has been moved because the there has been a decrease of interest in the road that leads to the crest.
As a consequence there are fewer settlements around the two most ancient parish churches that are still surrounded by a rural vegetation, which has been untouched sine the past centuries.
The oldest center of Pedemont, which is part of the archaic structure of the valley can be found near the parish church of St. Maria di Valleregia. It is located on the valley floor before Pedemont and of great interest is the Villa Negrotto Cambiaso of the second half of the 17th century as well as its garden in the flat area of the Secca.
One of the main religious structures of the entire valley is the church of Serra Riccò, which was dedicated to the saints Cornelio and Cipriano.
Its origins date back to the 9th century and it was expanded and restored many times until it maintained is actual Baroque form in 1600.
