How to get there: Highway A10 Genoa-Ventimiglia exit at Albenga and go towards Villanova and from here you will easily reach Garlenda which a center of culture, sports, and tourism.
The old Medieval town is located in the hinterland of Albenga in the valley of the Lerrone Torrent. It was the territory of Bonifacio del Vasto and in 1142 he gave it to the Counts of Laigueglia.
It then went to the Costa Counts and later to Del Carretto of Balestrino and finally it was annexed to the Sardinia Kingdom in 1735.
Today, Garlenda is popular for its sport activities such as: horseback riding, swimming, ice-skating, bocce, tennis, and golf. The Garlenda Golf Club offers an 18 hole course that is well-know and well-equipped.
The community of Castelli you can see the ruins of the Medieval Castle of the Della Laigueglia family.
The recent Costa Castle – Del Carretto of Balestrino that was rebuilt in the 17th century is located in the community of Meriana. IT has a quadrangular base and an octagonal tower and it is surrounded by a large park.
At Attigua there is the Chapel Gentilizia that was restored in the 19th century.
In the heart of thown there is 17th century Parish Church della Natività that contains precious canvases.
There are also pleasing and interesting excursions to the nearby town of Villanova of Albenga and other towns of the Arroscia Valley.
The rustic Church of St. Rocco has a secular oak tree and it faces the beautiful landscape located in the peace and quit of the olive groves.
