It is a well-known resort that is surrounded by plant life. It has ancient origins although it was first mentioned in the 11th century when it was a possession of the Bishop’s of Savona.

In 1227 it was defeated by the Noli Republic that destroyed the superb castle. Later, Pope Urbano VI gave it to the Republic of Genoa that followed its historical vicissitudes.

Spotorno is located on a flat territory in the center of a wide inlet and it has modified its urban structure through modern constructions in order to welcome more tourists.

The historical center has maintained its linear structure that developed along the border of the coastal area. It has cute alleys that go to the promenade that allows you to an admire a view of the small island of Bergeggi.

Among the religious buildings there is the Parish Church of the Santissima Annunziata (that was transformed in the 18th century and it has art pieces of the 15th-16th centuries).

There is also the 17th century Oratory. Among its monuments there are the ruins of the ancient Vecovile Castle where the Bishop of Savona lived in 1180. It was restored in 1218 and destroyed in 1227 and it is located slightly above the town.

Spotorno offers entertainment such as manifestations and trips to the nearby areas. From the sea you can reach the small island and the sea caves of Bergeggi.

Spotorno offers a splendid blue sea that that has been untouched making it a favorite of tourists.
