How to get there: Tovo S. Giacomo can be easily reached by Pietra Ligure.
A cave guarded by the Contrada Bronati originated the place-name “Tuvu” where the actual name Tovo originates as well as the name of the Patron Saint of the town.
It has a curious geographical position characterized by its morphological asset.
It is divided into two parallel valleys that make up the form of the territory.
The two valleys contain the Maremora and Botassano Torrents and here you can visit the communities of Bardino Nuovo and Bardino Vecchio that are very unique and beautiful in nature.
The history of the town is similar to the nearby communities: from the Bishops of Albenga to Bonifacio del Vasto then to Del Carretto.
After raids, Spanish, and Austrian dominations it was annexed to the Republic of Genoa.
At Bardino Vecchio you can admire a Gothic bell tower of the Medieval Church of St. Giovanni.
At Bardino Nuovo there is the Church of St. Sebastiano and the original Museum of the Orologio da Torre that contains the most prestigious mechanisms of the Master Clockmakers of the Bergallo family.
Vineyards and fruit orchards reflect in the crystal clear waters that contain rare fish species such as a trout of high quality.
